Today, we are removing CentOS 8 as an available OS selection from our ordering forms, because CentOS 8 is going to be End of Life on December 31, 2021.

We would recommend choosing AlmaLinux OS 8 instead. The AlmaLinux foundation has demonstrated great effort to provide a community owned and governed, forever-free Linux distribution that is 1:1 binary compatible with RHEL® and pre-Stream CentOS. Another alternative to consider would be Rocky Linux, which is also available for selection. Back in April, we made a blog post here outlining in more detail the advantages of using a RHEL fork such as AlmaLinux, considering that CentOS as we know it, has been "commercialized" by IBM.

On a side note, we also added a new OS template based on Ubuntu 18.04, which comes with Docker preinstalled.

This change only affects the OS selections available to initially deploy from within the ordering forms. If for some reason you absolutely require CentOS 8, acknowledge the EOL risks, and still wish to run it as your server's operating system - you can still choose to reinstall your VPS via the SolusVM control panel to CentOS 8, as demonstrated in the below screenshot:
